The latest moves and appointments for wealth management roles in the UK, other parts of Europe, the Middle East and select international locations.

ING
Netherlands-headquartered ING has appointed Aled Patchett (pictured below) as head of sectors UK. He will also be a senior management function (SMF) holder and a member of ING’s UK management team. Patchett will report functionally to Erik Fortgens, head of sectors EMEA and hierarchically to Alexandra MacMahon, UK country head.

His remit will be to lead ING’s UK sector teams, overseeing client coverage and commercial activity across ING’s full-service product suite. Patchett will also be responsible for driving growth across the bank’s main sectors including energy, infrastructure, real estate, financial institutions, commodities, food and agribusiness, transport and logistics, corporate sector coverage and sustainable finance.

Patchett was previously with Lloyds Bank, where he spent nearly two decades in senior roles spanning sector coverage, markets and transaction banking. Most recently, he led specialist sales for transaction banking solutions and previously served as global head of consumer and retail, overseeing international client coverage.

“Our next phase of growth in the UK is about being more joined-up – across sectors and across products,” MacMahon said. “We see a clear opportunity to deepen client relationships in the UK and improve how we deliver cross-product solutions across lending, capital markets and advisory, transaction services and financial markets. Aled brings the experience to turn that into tangible growth.”

Schroders
Schroders Capital Private Debt & Credit Alternatives (PDCA) team has appointed Bob Paterson (main picture) as head of European Asset-based Finance (ABF) and Significant Risk Transfer (SRT) Investments, a senior leadership position within the Securitized Product & Asset-Based Finance (SP&ABF). He will report to Michelle Russell-Dowe, co-head of PDCA and global head of SP&ABF.

In this newly-created role, Paterson will lead the origination and execution of European, UK and Australian ABF as well as SRT transactions. As a senior investment leader on the SP&ABF team, based in London, he will also oversee European and UK Asset-Backed Securities (ABS) activity. Paterson’s addition comes as the SP&ABF team continues to identify areas where capital can be deployed attractively across a continuum from investment grade to opportunistic income. This appointment continues the expansion of the ABF & SRT team’s investment capacity and it’s diverse and flexible investment tool kit to facilitate client solutions, the firm said in a statement.

Paterson, who has 25 years of experience in the UK, Europe and the US, has a strong track record in origination, distribution and capital raising across complex structured credit strategies. He was previously with Manulife CQS Investment Management, where he played a key role in building the firm’s ABF platform and supporting the growth of its SRT franchise. Prior to CQS, Paterson spent more than a decade at Lloyds Bank in senior roles, including managing director and head of credit sales. Prior to that he worked at Morgan Stanley in New York and London across ABS syndication Paterson began his career as a credit analyst at Abbey National Treasury Services.

“He represents exactly the type of investor that can benefit from a flexible framework and the ability to be dynamic and access the opportunity the market is affording. Bob’s experience, leadership and senior presence will continue to emphasise our global presence as well as the continued build-out of our local investment presence in London and Zurich,” Michelle Russell-Dowe, co-head of PDCA and global head of P&ABF, Schroders Capital, said. “Bob has exactly the right skill set to harness the opportunities of today and of tomorrow, particularly as demand grows for high quality, diversifying, income?oriented strategies. Bob brings a depth of experience across sourcing, structuring and credit assessment which will further strengthen our ability to scale, innovate and deliver best-in-class solutions for clients across a range of return profiles.”
